A horrifying incident came to light in the NTR district of Andhra Pradesh, where a Dalit youth from Kanchikacherla village was subjected to a brutal assault, allegedly orchestrated by his old friend and five others from an upper-caste community. The victim, identified as 21-year-old Kandru Shyam Kumar, was reportedly kidnapped, abused, beaten, and even urinated upon, all stemming from a dispute over a girl. The incident, which occurred on November 1, gained public attention on Sunday after local politicians staged a protest, decrying the escalating violence against Dalits and tribals in the region.
The police acted swiftly, apprehending all six accused, including the prime suspect, S Harish Reddy (22), along with G Anil Kumar (22), B Srikanth Reddy (23), S Vishnu Vardhan Reddy (23), M Nagarjuna Reddy (22) from Ganapavaram village in Prakasam district, and D Venkat Laxmi Narayana (24) from Guntur district.
