In a disturbing incident in Gaya district, Naveen Kumar, the son of Ramashish Yadav from Bajitpur village, has been arrested under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act following allegations of physical assault, verbal abuse, and casteist remarks. The incident transpired in the village of Chapardah, where a confrontation unfolded on Sunday between Naveen and his associates and a DAlit man identified as Roshan Kumar (21).
The catalyst for the altercation reportedly stemmed from Roshan’s choice to display ‘Jai Bhim’ on his Facebook profile, a move that purportedly angered Naveen and his associates. The accused individuals allegedly pressured Roshan to renounce his beliefs and adopt their ideological stance, leading to a violent encounter, According to reports.
During the altercation, Roshan sustained injuries to his hands, legs, face, and head, prompting his admission for medical treatment at Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital.
Mita Devi of Chapardah filed an official complaint with the Amas police station on the same day, leading to Naveen’s arrest. The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ashish Bharti, provided details on Tuesday, stating that Naveen, the son of Ramashish Yadav from Bajitpur village, faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The Amas Station House Officer (SHO), Mrityunjay Kumar, has been instructed to apprehend the other accused individuals involved in the incident as investigations continue.
