In Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, a 16-year-old Dalit girl drank acid after she was molested by four upper caste men. The condition of the girl is critical.
On July 6, culprits Atul, Bholu, Sanjeev and Lavkush took the minor forcibly to a secluded area when she was returning from a nearby market and molested her.
The police are working out an investigation. They are still looking for the absconded criminals.
The government in Uttar Pradesh has mostly failed Dalit girls and women in upholding their safety. The state tops the list of crimes against the Scheduled Caste communities, says the National Crime Records Bureau’s report. Most of them are women.
