Gunfire at Dalit Groom’s wedding Procession in Faridabad; one injured

Faridabad, December 9: Tensions flared in Tigaon village as a youth reportedly opened fire on December 9, attempting to disrupt a Dalit groom’s Wedding Procession “ghurchari” ceremony during a marriage event. The disturbing incident resulted in the injury of an 18-year-old girl, Soniya, who was struck by a bullet amid the chaos.

The altercation unfolded around 8 pm when the “ghurchari” procession of Dalit youth identified as Sachin was underway in the colony. The accused, identified as Babu from a “higher” caste, objected vehemently to the ceremony. Following a confrontation with members of the marriage party accompanying the groom, Babu allegedly resorted to firing a countrymade revolver.

Unfortunately, the unintended victim, Soniya, sustained a gunshot wound to her leg. She has been admitted to a hospital, and her condition is reported to be stable. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act, and SC and ST Act against Babu and his accomplice Heera, both local residents.
