UP: Cabinet Minister resigns due to caste discrimination, said officers not following orders

Dinesh Khatik, a minister in Yogi-Led UP Cabinet resigns from his ministry post, writing a letter directed to Union Home minister, Amit Shah alleging that his orders is not being followed by govt. officers saying: “When I sought clarification, my phone was bluntly disconnected midway through the conversation and this is a big insult of an elected public representative,” accusing the top official in the irrigation department of insulting him when he sought details about the transfers made in the department in 2022-23. In his letter he especially mentions this with the fact of him being a Dalit (Scheduled Caste). “As it is” reacts Om Prakash Rajbhar, Chief of SBSP, who had also resigned from Yogi’s previous cabinet. BSP Chief and former UP CM, Mayawati condemning this matter tweeted: The neglect of Dalit minister even within the Uttar Pradesh BJP cabinet is highly condemnable and unfortunate. Such news in national discussions. The government must fulfill the responsibility of taking care of their safety and respect by abandoning its casteist mentality and neglect, disdain, exploitation and injustice towards the Dalits.
