While the nation was celebrating it’s 75th independence day on August 15, atrocities against SC/STs remain a national shame. In Kerala’s hill district of Wayanad, three children from a tribal community of age six and seven were reportedly ruthlessly beaten by landlord, Radhakrishnan, for entering his Paddy field.
The landlord then accused the minor children of “destroying” his Paddy field.
South-based region media, Mediaone, reports All three children who were hit suffered injuries on their legs and abdomen. A six-year-old boy with a congenital valve defect who underwent bypass surgery twice was the most injured because he couldn’t run fast, he was continuously beaten up.
The accused has been booked under SC/ST Atrocities Act and Section 324 of IPC (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means)and he is arrested by the police.
