Haryana: A Scheduled Caste labourer lynched to death over ‘theft’, accused farm owner and cop booked

In Haryana’s Hisar, on Wednesday, a 50-year-old SC labourer, Hansraj’s dead body was found in a farm where he used to work. Over the complaint of his wife, Lali Devi, the farm owner and a police man are booked.

They are booked under sections 365 (abduction), 302 (murder), and 34 (common intent in crime) of the Indian Penal Code.

Lali Devi reported that the farm owner came to their house with three cops at noon, accusing him of a theft of six thousand rupees.

National Alliance for Dalit Human Rights convener Rajat Kalsan writes on his Facebook post that the cops and farm owner forcibly took him to the field, tied him to a tree and brutally thrashed him the whole night that led to his death.

On the next day, on Thursday, the family found his dead body in bloodshed in the farm owner’s field.

Activist Rajat Kalsan is helping the family seek justice and has said that the family will never perform the funeral until every accused is identified and arrested.
