Kerala: CPI(M) Minister resigned after derogatory remarks against Indian constitution, FIR lodged

Followed by the outrage from all over a day after controversial remarks against the Indian constitution, CPI(M)’s Minister for Fisheries, Culture and Youth Affairs, Saji Cheriyan announced his resignation.

Later an FIR was also lodged under Section II of the Prevention of Insults to the National Honor Act at Keezhvaipur police station, confirmed a senior police officer to The Indian express.

In a public meeting held earlier this week in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta, he said the constitution facilitated the exploitation of people.

As a damage control response after the resignation, Cheriyan claimed he had the highest regard for the constitution and it was not his intention to disrespect it.
