Punjab: No SC/ST/OBCs in law officers’ positions, Dr. Ambedkar’s ideology yet to reach office?

In its recent mass recruitment of 178 justice officials, Aam Aadmi Party’s newly formed government in Punjab denied reservation to the SC/ST/OBC candidates.

Even its classified advertisement asking for eligible candidates had no mention of affirmative action in recruitment.

The categories of law officers to be engaged included two senior additional advocate generals, 32 additional advocate generals, 25 senior deputy advocate generals, 45 deputy advocate generals, 69 assistant advocate generals and five advocates-on-record.

The officers were recruited to the Advocate General’s office in Chandigarh and their legal cell in New Delhi.

“AAP is undermining the constitution,” socio-political analyst Suraj Kumar Bouddh has tweeted, “Putting Dr. Ambedkar’s picture in the office is not enough. Give us our rights.”

Prior to 2022 Punjab Legislative Assembly Elections, Arvind Kejriwal tried with all his might to prove his inclination towards Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s ideologies. The recent legal recruitments exhibit otherwise.
